In 1216, King John lost a fortune (including the Crown Jewels!) when his wagons were crossing tidal marshes. The procession was caught by unexpectedly fast-rising water which, according to some historians and astronomers, was caused by the New Moon's effect on the tide. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Fortunately, as the Moon begins to wax, the symbolism is much more encouraging. Energy is building. Ideas can develop. Plans can gather momentum.

Happy Birthday Paul Simon! His songs have been part of our cultural soundtrack for decades. Great songs have an extraordinary ability to change with us; lyrics we've heard hundreds of times acquire new meaning because our circumstances change. The same is true of familiar situations. We think we know what's going on - then a shift in perspective reveals something we hadn't noticed. If you listen carefully today, you might hear something that changes the entire tune.

Today, in 1964, Martin Luther King Jr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to achieving social change through non-violent means. His example reminds us that sometimes, the most courageous response is to refuse to meet force with force. As the Sun moves towards an encouraging link with Jupiter, it highlights the difference between optimism and wishful thinking. Real hope inspires action. Today, one positive choice will have more impact than we think.

On National Grouch Day we're allowed to embrace our inner grump. Yay! We all have days when we're not in the mood to look on the bright side. And acknowledging those feelings is much healthier than forcing ourselves to smile. Although today's Sun/Jupiter is undeniably positive, it doesn't demand relentless optimism. It reminds us that our current mood isn't the whole story. So, if something's annoying you, have a good grumble. Then look again. You'll see that something encouraging's happening too.

Sometimes, the most important progress happens before there's anything to show for it. We think we're stuck, but actually, we're considering priorities and preparing to move. As Pluto turns direct this weekend, situations that feel frustratingly slow will begin to shift. And with dynamic Mars linking to resolute Saturn, determination comes with staying power. This isn't about rushing forwards or forcing results. It's about recognising where change is possible, then taking practical steps towards it.

When something changes direction, everything it's connected to needs time to adjust. As Pluto settles into forward motion this week, developments that have been quietly gathering momentum begin to make their presence felt. Midweek, as retrograde Venus squares the planet of transformation, it highlights the relationships, values and priorities that need to adapt to the changing landscape. By making small adjustments, we can make space for exciting possibilities to emerge... and flourish.
